About Boxscore

Last updated October 15, 2026

Boxscore is a set of free daily sports puzzles. They're built on real career stats and real rosters, and they're made for people who know ball.

Who makes it

I’m Austin, and I build Boxscore by myself. I’ve always loved sports trivia: arguing over who had the better career, or trying to remember who played with whom. I wanted games that test that knowledge instead of guessing a name from a photo.

You can find my other projects at austinkrance.com and follow along on X.

The games

A new board for every game lands at midnight Pacific, and everyone gets the same one, so you can compare results with friends. Puzzles cover baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, and golf.

Missed a day? Each game has an archive of past boards. You can also join groups and events to play against friends, or suggest a puzzle of your own.

Where the stats come from

Baseball comes from the Lahman Baseball Database, which goes back to 1871. The other sports are compiled from public datasets and Wikipedia. Rankings come from official federation sources. Player photos are freely licensed images from Wikimedia Commons, and each one is credited on the photo credits page.

Records are checked, but with this many players and seasons some numbers will be off. Every finished game has a “Spot a wrong stat?” link, and reports go straight to me.

Boxscore isn’t affiliated with, or endorsed by, any league, team, club, or player. Team names and statistics belong to their owners.

How it's paid for

The daily puzzles are free and always will be, and you don’t need an account to play them. Ads help cover the cost of running the site. Premium is optional and adds unlimited boards, the full archive, custom chains, and no ads. Your data is covered by the privacy policy, and the rules of the site are in the terms.
