Where the numbers come from
These boards count senior official games only: league matches, domestic cups, European competitions and competitive internationals. Youth and reserve football doesn't count, so a prospect's numbers start the day he made a first team.
Teammate Chain covers Europe's top five leagues. From 1992-93 to 2011-12 a season counts if a player was in the club's squad, and some seasons before 1992-93 are missing. Assists are only offered for careers from about 2008 and yellow cards from about 1993, when they started to be recorded reliably.
Goal counts for older players can differ between sources, and award winners and all-time lists are used to make sure the game's greatest players are in.
